What is a colonic?

Colon Hydrotherapy is referred as to colonic irrigation, colonics, colon therapy, or high enemas and is a gentle and effective procedure designed to cleanse the colon by infusing purified water. This process helps remove accumulated waste and toxins, promoting overall digestive health and supporting the body’s natural detoxification processes.

Is colon hydrotherapy painful?

In no way should a colonic be painful. You may experience some cramping and abdominal spasms related to peristalsis; however, these come & go quickly and are well release through gentle belly massage given throughout the session or as waste moved through & out of the colon.

Can I have a colonic after surgery?

Depending on the type of surgery you have had, we can sometimes still treat you. If you have had surgery on any abdominal area, gynaecological intervention or surgery on the digestive organs, please contact us directly to discuss if this is safe for you.

Can I have a colonic while pregnant or after having a baby?

We do not recommend having a colonic while pregnant at all. After having a baby, you can have a colonic straight away, provided you did not have a caesarean birth. You can have a colonic while breast feeding.

Can I have a colonic during menstrual bleeding?

Yes. We can still do a session for you however belly massage may not be suitable due to cramping, pain and inflammation associated with your cycle. We can assess during the session what you feel comfortable with & can tolerate.

How do I prepare for my colonic?

Prior to coming for your session, we ask you not to have anything t eat 2 hours prior and to keep hydrated. If you feel you must eat, have something small and soft, that you find you can easily digest.

And after care?

You may feel tired and emotional afterwards. This is because we stir things up in there & it can come out on many ways. You may also feel energised & experience mental clarity. Each person is different. Above all, be kind to yourself and listen to your body. You will receive after care instructions at the end of your session.

We recommend the following diet after your colonic:

  • Drink plenty of liquids (purified or distilled water, juices, herb teas, and electrolyte liquids).
  • Eat soft or pureed food that you find easy to digest for 24 hours after each session, soups or fresh vegetable juices are ideal.
  • Avoid eating raw vegetables for a couple of days. Steamed vegetables and raw fruit are acceptable.
